Graduation Checklist

If you are completing the required coursework for your degree or certificate, you must apply for graduation.  Applications for Graduation are only available through the "MY SSC" portal.  If you do not complete and submit the Graduation Application, your degree/certificate may not be awarded. Commencement is an annual event approximately scheduled on the 3rd Sunday of May at 1:30 p.m. and is held in the Physical Fitness & Athletic Building on the Main Campus. A ticket is required for all guests attending the commencement ceremony, including children aged two and over. All guests should be seated no later than 1:15 pm.

The 85th Annual Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013, in the Physical Fitness and Athletic Center. Anyone planning to participate in the ceremony must purchase a cap and gown in the Campus Bookstore. As you purchase your cap & gown, you will be given 4 tickets for your guests to be admitted to the ceremony. NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET.

There will be an optional day for additional distribution of tickets on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11th, 2013 in the Student Life and Leadership Office, room 2239. This is a one-time only extra ticket distribution.

Children 3 and over must have a ticket. Any younger children must be sitting on a guests lap. Please do not have family or friends show up at the door without a ticket with hopes to be admitted. Unfortunately they will be turned away as door attendees do not have any tickets to disperse.

Graduation 2013 medallions are available as an option for an additional cost of $13.00 each. A packet of announcements is also available for $10.00. All sales are final, no exceptions. Please bring your graduation letter with you as verification.

If you are a current serving in the military or are a veteran, please contact 708-210-5754 as we would like to acknowledge your services.

A professional photographer will be available for portraits before the ceremony on the second floor ramp area at 11:00 a.m. The photographer will also take photos during the ceremony as you receive your diploma. These optional photos will be offered to you at a nominal price.

There is not a rehearsal before the ceremony, please arrive no later than 12:00 p.m. on graduation day in the main building at the Registration area on the second floor to check in. The Grand March of the SSC Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty and graduates will then proceed to the Physical Fitness and Athletic Center at approximately 1:30 p.m. The ceremony is expected to last approximately one hour. Immediately following the ceremony, an informal reception for you and your guests will be held in the Atrium in the main building.
