Health Science & Physical Education Transfer Program

The Life Sciences Department offers classes in four areas of biology: general biology, environmental biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.


The mission of the Physical Education Department is to promote lifelong physical activity, fitness and health through a variety of physical activities.

Physical Education Student Learning Objectives (SLOs)

The student will be able to:

  • Describe the mental and physical benefits of regular physical activity.
  • Explain the different benefits of aerobic exercise, resistance exercise, and stretching activities.
  • Monitor their personal heart rate to determine if it is in the target heart rate zone.

Recommended AS Transfer Curriculum for Health Science/Physical Education

This AS curriculum is only a suggested transfer program and might not be appropriate for every student. Some four-year institutions accept more than 62 credit hours in transfer to fulfill requirements in Health Science/Physical Education. Consult the Transfer Center for help in selecting courses appropriate for the program at the college or university where you plan to transfer.

Faculty are available during scheduled office hours to advise students about their courses and program. Peruse some of the offerings in the Life Sciences/Physical Education Department.

All full-time transfer students are required to take OCS 121.
