Chicago Women’s Conference Star Award Winners Inspire Women to Excel

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL – Encouraging and supporting women is what The Chicago Women’s Conference is all about. The Star Awards, which will be presented at the Conference being held at South Suburban College on March 17, continues that theme by recognizing women for their outstanding leadership in business, community activities and/or education and encouragement of others to also be STARS. In the nominator’s eyes, the “STAR” is a role model because she is not only achieving her own goals, but through her inspiring actions has profoundly motivated others to do the same. This year marks the second year of the Star Awards and two Awards will be presented at the upcoming Chicago Women’s Conference, including one that recognizes lifetime achievement of a South Suburban College alumna.

Bridgett Annicks, a 2017 Star Award winner, was nominated for being an outstanding model educator who has touched the lives of many children as a first grade teacher at Oak Glen School in Lansing. She is innovative, creative and strives to foster excitement for learning in all her students. Her attributes include patience, compassion and enthusiasm. She goes out of her way to ensure that children get the best start in education and experience the simple pleasures of life.

Janice Crowe, the 2017 Star Award South Suburban College Lifetime Alumna Achievement awardee, is a proud graduate of the SSC (then Thornton Community College) Registered Nursing Program. Janice was recognized by her nominator for her many talents and accomplishments as well as for being down-to-earth and genuine. As a Charge Nurse at Oak Forest Hospital, Janice has always been respected by both staff and patients. She is known for her dedication, leadership and willingness to embrace change. She has been an active community member, genealogy expert, and go-to person for her many areas of insight.

Plan to attend the Ninth Annual Chicago Women’s Conference to congratulate these two Star Award winners on Friday, March 17 from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. at South Suburban College, located at 15800 S. State Street, South Holland, IL. The advance ticket price of $25 includes a full day of activities: a keynote speaker, several breakout sessions, a continental breakfast and boxed lunch, and plenty of shopping opportunities. Groups of three or more registering together can receive a special discount, so many women will make the day a “Girls Day Out.” For more information, go to the website, http://thechicagowomensconference.org to view the many interesting topics and to register, or reserve your spot by phone (708) 596-2000 ext. 6055.
