The purpose of the Hospitality Management program is to prepare students for entry-level employment or further skills advancement in the hospitality industry based on the American Hotel & Lodging Association and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP) standards. As part of the service industry, the hospitality sector includes both accommodation and food services establishments because the two activities are often combined at the same establishment.
Students will gain specific knowledge and skillsets related to the ability to provide customers with services related to lodging and/or preparing meals, snacks, and beverages for immediate consumption. Students will also learn basic food service handling principles required to take the ServeSafe Food Handler exam.
The Management Basic Hospitality Certificate (MGT.BASIC.HSP) and Management Certification in Hospitality (MGMT.CERT.HSP) will serve as stackable credentials to allow students to gain a certificate with the opportunity to secure gainful employment while completing their Hospitality Management AAS degree.
