The Life Sciences Department is seeking a student lab worker for our Microbiology course. The student lab worker will assist faculty members by preparing the necessary lab materials needed for their class. This work includes making microbiological media, preparing bacterial samples, and cleaning lab materials after use by students. All training will be provided to the student worker. Other functions may include the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- • Prepare needed media for use in the Microbiology lab portions of our courses
- Prepare bacterial samples for use during labs
- Maintain a clean lab and lab preparation area
- Properly sterilize and clean all materials after use by students
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A course in general biology that covers cell biology concepts (i.e. Bio 102, Bio 105/106)
- Ability/desire to work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A course in general microbiology (i.e. Bio 224)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use good judgment and exercise discretion
STATUS/SALARY:
This is a part-time, temporary position for a maximum of 10 hours a week. The pay rate
is $13.00/hour.
