Terry R. Wells has served on the South Suburban College Board of Trustees since 2001 and was elected Chairman on January 20, 2022. A graduate of Illinois State University, Chairman Wells is committed to advancing SSC’s academic programs, broadening educational access, and overseeing the completion of the landmark Allied Health & Nursing Center.

Wells has been President of the Village of Phoenix since 1993 and also the Southland Regional Mayoral Black Caucus. The married father of three is a retired history educator from Thornton High School and previously served as President of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association.

He completed Trustee Leadership Training in accordance with IL Public Act 099-0692 on February 18, 2022.
