South Suburban College recognizes the complex needs of students and is dedicated to ensuring they receive support to successfully complete their education. The Multicultural Wellness Center was funded through the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act.
The facility encompasses six pillars of wellness. Each pillar is supported by offering students a place to obtain information, receive mental health crisis intervention services and participate in educational workshops.
Mental health awareness is essential. South Suburban College is committed to ensuring students and employees are well-equipped with resources. The facility assists in understanding and dealing with stress related issues, family concerns, abusive relationships, self-esteem, single parenthood, anxiety and depression. In addition, the program offers counseling and/or referral for substance abuse, pregnancy, AIDS and eating disorders.
