Description of Position:

Part-time student worker position essential to supporting the daily operations of Student Life & Leadership and related resource centers. This position assists with front-office functions, student services, and departmental initiatives that advance South Suburban College’s mission. General supervision is provided by a designated college administrator.

  1. Provide front-desk support, including greeting students, answering phones, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff or departments.
  2. Assist with office tasks such as filing, copying, scanning, data entry, preparing materials, and maintaining organized workspaces.
  3. Support Student Life & Leadership programs, events, and workshops through setup, check-in, promotion, and logistical assistance.
  4. Monitor departmental email accounts, respond to general questions, and route messages as needed.
  5. Assist with inventory tracking for office supplies, program materials, and student resources.
  6. Provide support to the Latino Resource Center, Veterans Resource Center, and Bulldog Market as assigned.
  7. Willing to be SSC mascot Bruno which serves as the official goodwill ambassador for South Suburban College by promoting school spirit, student/faculty/staff engagement, and community connections.
  8. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all students and staff interactions.
  9. Participate in mandatory training(s).
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled at South Suburban College with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  2. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
  3. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a student-centered environment.
  4. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace preferred).
  5. Ability to multitask and maintain a welcoming and organized workspace.
  6. Commitment to upholding the South Suburban College mission, values, and code of conduct.

Preferred Qualifications:

Customer service experience, office support experience, or previous involvement in campus programs.

Schedule:

Various schedules available; up to 20 hours per week depending on departmental needs.

Status/Salary:

This is a part-time position. Students may work up to 20 hours a week, hourly rate $16.00.
