South Holland, IL — The South Suburban College Bulldogs Baseball Team claimed the Region 4 Championship on Friday, May 8th, 2026, with a decisive win over Olive-Harvey College Panthers at Steve Ruzich Stadium. This victory marks the program’s 15th Division 1 Region 4 Championship, continuing a proud tradition of excellence on the field.

Head Coach Steve Ruzich was also honored as the Region 4 Coach of the Year for his leadership and the team’s outstanding performance this season.

With the championship secured, the Bulldogs advance to the NJCAA Midwest District Tournament, to be held in Belleville. On Wednesday, May 13th at 3:00 PM, the Bulldogs will face Wabash Valley College Warriors. Earlier that day at 12:00 PM, Iowa Western Reivers (ranked #7 nationally) will take on host Southwestern Illinois College Blue Storm in the double-elimination tournament.

The winner of the district tournament will earn a berth to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in Grand Junction.

The Bulldogs enter postseason play with an impressive 41–14 overall record and a perfect 20–0 record at home this season.
