South Holland, IL – South Suburban College proudly hosted its Academic Achievement Reception on Thursday, May 7, 2026, an evening dedicated to recognizing academic excellence, student leadership, and the power of community support.
The event honored students inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, celebrating their commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, and academic success. Family members, faculty, staff, donors, and community supporters gathered to applaud the accomplishments of these outstanding students and recognize their hard work and perseverance.
In addition to the PTK induction ceremony, the reception also celebrated Foundation Scholarship recipients whose educational journeys will be supported through donor-funded scholarships. During the evening, the Foundation awarded over $90,000.00 in scholarships for Fiscal Year 2027, helping to remove financial barriers and provide students with the resources needed to continue pursuing their educational and career goals.
The evening also served as an opportunity to recognize and thank the generous donors whose contributions help bridge the gap of higher education for countless students. Their continued support plays a vital role in expanding access to education and investing in the future success of SSC students.
The Academic Achievement Reception reflected South Suburban College’s ongoing commitment to student achievement, academic opportunity, and building a strong community of support that empowers students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
