South Suburban College Foundation Hosts Successful Boots on the Ground Gala

South Holland, IL – The South Suburban College Foundation proudly hosted its annual Boots on the Ground Gala on Saturday, April 25, 2026, bringing together community leaders, elected officials, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends for an unforgettable evening in support of student success.

The sold-out event celebrated the continued impact of the Foundation’s mission to remove financial barriers for students pursuing higher education at South Suburban College. Through the generosity of sponsors, donors, and attendees, the gala raised more than $70,000 to support scholarships and student-centered initiatives.

The evening was led by Mistress of Ceremony Tia Ewing of FOX 32 Chicago, who brought energy and enthusiasm to the celebration while helping highlight the impact of the Foundation’s work throughout the community.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Boots for Books Scholarships, with 10 deserving students receiving scholarship awards to help further their educational journeys. The scholarships reflect the Foundation’s commitment to empowering students and investing in the future of the community.

Guests enjoyed an evening filled with entertainment, fellowship, and celebration while learning more about the life-changing opportunities made possible through Foundation support. The event’s success was made possible through the dedication of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create a seamless and memorable experience.

“The overwhelming support shown at this year’s Boots on the Ground Gala demonstrates the community’s commitment to student achievement and educational access,” said Susan Cox, Foundation President. “Every contribution helps open doors for our students and strengthens opportunities for future generations.”

The South Suburban College Foundation extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, and volunteered to make the evening a remarkable success.
