South Suburban College Men’s Basketball Players AJ Abrams & Samar Bures Named NJCAA All-Americans


South Holland, IL — South Suburban College (SSC) is proud to celebrate a major achievement within its Men’s Basketball program as two student-athletes, AJ Abrams and Samar Bures, have been named to the NJCAA Division II All-American Teams.

Competing in NJCAA Division II, Abrams has earned honors after an outstanding season averaging 23.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.2 steals per game. Bures, being recognized for averaging 18.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Both players are also proud members of SSC’s 1,000-point scorer club.

This recognition continues a tradition of excellence under the leadership of Head Coach John Pigatti. This marks the third time in the last five seasons that two SSC players have earned All-American honors in the same year. Over his 20 seasons at the College, Coach Pigatti has mentored 21 All-Americans, including 16 First Team selections.

“I am extremely happy for AJ and Samar. Being named to the All-American team is a big honor that both of them worked hard to accomplish. They both have a bright future and I am looking forward to seeing what is next for them,” said Coach Pigatti. See The Players In Action
