South Suburban College Women’s Basketball Team Advances to National Tournament

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–The South Suburban College (SSC) Women’s Basketball Team (25-7) defeated Kankakee Community College by a score of 70-62 to win the Region IV Championship and advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament. Freshman guard CC Lopez was named 1st Team All-Region IV and Regional Tournament MVP, and sophomore guard Alyssa Gebo was named All-Tournament. Freshman guard Tyler Brown-Henderson was also named to the All-Region IV 2nd Team. SSC Head Coach Darrel Scott was named Regional Coach of the Year, marking his 5th time receiving the award.

The National Tournament will be held at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, from March 17-21, 2015. The #7-seeded Lady Bulldogs are opening vs. #10 Monroe College, NY, on Tuesday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. National Tournament games can be viewed from the NJCAA website under Division II Women’s Basketball.
