South Suburban College’s Business & Career Institute Presents Electrical Safety/Arc-Flash Employee & Supervisor Training

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–The Business & Career Institute (BCI) of South Suburban College present a 4-hour course titled Electrical Safety/Arc-Flash Electrically Unqualified Employee & Supervisor Training on Monday, August 19th from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. The training will be held at the college’s Oak Forest Center and will include a continental breakfast.

The course is designed for all personnel who are responsible for operation and maintenance of electrical equipment operating at 600 volts or less, supervisors of production and maintenance employees. Participants must be familiar with the equipment they are expected to operate and maintain. Electrical Safety/Arc-Flash Electrically Unqualified Employee & Supervisor Training is an instructor-led course that provides a basic understanding of electrical safety and the hazards associated with electrical equipment operations and maintenance.

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Hazards of working around electrical equipment
  • Safety precautions based on OSHA standards and NFPA 70E
  • Arc-Flash
  • Arc-Blast
  • Electric Shock
  • Lockout/tagout
  • Non-electrical hazards (two hazard rule)
  • Home electrical safety
  • The importance of equipment grounding
  • Circuit breakers and fuses
