South Holland, IL – South Suburban College (SSC) proudly announces the return of the highly anticipated Chicago Women’s Conference: “Winning the Race,” on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This exciting event will take place at SSC’s Main Campus, located at 15800 S. State Street, South Holland, IL.

With a focus on empowering and inspiring everyone from all walks of life, the conference will feature:

  • Dynamic Break-Out Sessions on Health & Wellness, Personal Empowerment, and Business & Finance led by expert speakers.
  • An opportunity to shop and support local businesses in the Vendor Marketplace.
  • A stunning Fashion Show, hosted by the talented Deborah Kimball Crosslin.

Admission is $59.00, which includes a hot breakfast, a midday snack, and access to all sessions and activities.

South Suburban College Oak Forest Center’s Southworks Maker Lab Offers Exciting Workshops to Spark Creativity and Build Tech Skills


South Holland, IL – The Southworks Maker Lab at the South Suburban College (SSC) Oak Forest Center invites the community to participate in an exciting series of workshops designed to inspire innovation, enhance technical skills, and foster creativity. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, looking for a fun date activity, or eager to celebrate math in a unique way, these workshops offer something for everyone.

Workshop Line-Up:

• Arduino Workshop
Date: Thursday, January 23, 2025
Time: 4:30pm – 8:30pm
Cost: $50 per person
Dive into the world of microcontrollers and learn how to program an Arduino. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners and tech-savvy individuals alike.

• Valentine Gift-Making Workshop
Date: Saturday, February 1, 2025
Time: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Cost: $25 for individuals or $40 per couple
Create personalized Valentine’s gifts in a fun and creative environment. This workshop is great for singles, couples, or friends looking to celebrate the holiday in a meaningful way.

• PI Day Celebration

“THE DREAM CONTINUES” – A CELEBRATION OF THE LEGACY OF REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PRESENTED BY SSC AND THORNTON TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 205


South Holland, IL – South Suburban College (SSC) invites the community to an inspiring celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day: “The Dream Continues”. This event will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Kindig Performing Arts Center, located at 15800 S. State St., South Holland, Illinois.

This year’s theme, “The Dream Continues” aims to challenge our college and community to make Dr. King’s vision relevant in addressing today’s racial and socioeconomic climate. Together, we will explore how his enduring principles of equity, justice, and unity can guide us in shaping a brighter future.

The celebration will feature:
* An array of guest speakers, featuring Reverend Dr. Ozzie E. Smith, Jr. and other local community leaders, sharing insights and reflections.
* A keynote address by Pastor Julian Deshazier and SSC Voices that brings Dr. King’s dream into focus for the challenges of our modern era.
* Performances by talented students from Thornton Township High School District 205, honoring Dr. King’s legacy through art and expression.
* Light refreshments to foster fellowship and connection.

Through engaging speeches, powerful performances, and meaningful dialogue, this event offers a unique opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy while reimagining the dream for today’s generation.
