STEM for Kids Summer Program Coming to South Suburban College in July

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–South Suburban College’s Office of Continuing Education and STEM Department are partnering to offer a course to help fill the summer days with activities that will inspire and challenge kids and young adults.

SSC Maker Lab presents, Google AIY Projects: bring artificial intelligence to your maker projects. With this AIY Voice Kit from Google, students can build a standalone voice recognition system using the Google Assistant or add voice recognition and natural language processing to Raspberry Pi based projects. In this class, students will assemble the basic kit that works with the Google Assistant as well as on-device voice recognition with TensorFlow.

All course materials are included. Students will also have the opportunity to create a custom 3D printed enclosure for their device using the SouthWorks Maker Lab laser cutter, vinyl cutter and 3D Printers. (Parents, please note: the students will need to create a Google mail account if they do not already have one.)
